India to Host Global Rice Conclave BIRC 2025, Eyeing ₹18 Lakh Crore Exports

New Delhi, India – October 25, 2025 — The inaugural Bharat International Rice Conference 2025 (BIRC 2025) is set to convene on October 30–31 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Organized by the Indian Rice Exporters’ Federation (IREF), in partnership with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the conference aims to unlock significant global market potential for Indian rice.

Strategic Goals & Opportunity

  • Indian rice exports are being positioned to tap into up to ₹18 lakh crore in new global markets over the medium term.
  • The event is projected to secure memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth around ₹25,000 crore through trade contracts and buyer engagements.
  • Approximately 1,000+ international buyers from over 80 countries, along with 2,500 Indian exporters, 5,000 farmers, and 200+ institutions — including research, finance, logistics and agri-tech firms — are expected to participate.

Conference Format & Highlights

  • The two-day conference will include live demonstrations, showcasing taste, texture and aroma diversity of country’s rice varieties across global cuisines.
  • A dedicated Culinary Experience Zone will feature top chefs serving dishes—from sushi and Arabic delicacies to Italian and African entrees—using Indian basmati and premium non-basmati rice.
  • Sessions will cover value-chain innovation: export financing, logistics, quality certification, and sustainable rice systems, aligning trade expansion with agri-sustainability priorities.

Significance for Stakeholders

  • For exporters: BIRC 2025 provides a platform to deepen global buyer linkages, enhance product positioning and pursue value-added rice exports.
  • For farmers and supply-chain participants: The conference is an opportunity to directly engage with international demand signals, improve traceability and access premium markets.
  • For country’s agri-export strategy: The event aims to strengthen India’s standing not just as a large-scale rice supplier, but as a hub of quality, innovation and global food culture.
